circa 1855, with blued octagonal 5 3/4in. barrel bearing the later South African registration number 'L5299', dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, wingnut cylinder arbor release, plain cylinder engraved with the serial number, borderline engraved solid frame, sliding cylinder lock safe, spurred hammer, one-piece chequered walnut grip and guarded double action trigger, retaining much original blued finish throughout
